Liberating Ecstasy: A Beltane Workshop

  • the Barn 618 Northwest Glisan Street Portland, OR, 97209 United States

I am super excited to be co-teaching a Beltane weekend, day-long workshop with Sean Donahue! This class will be pretty damn special.

When the Hawthorne bloomed, the ancient Irish celebrated Beltane, the festival of ecstasy. The universe is born of ecstasy, and ecstasy is our birthright. But we are cut off from the capacity to experience it by political and economic and cultural systems that alienate us from the living world. Join us! Two herbalists and bad ass witches, Sean Donahue and Kirsten Hale, for an exploration of how we can nourish and restore our capacity for ecstasy, and about the liberation and transformation that ecstasy can bring.

We will be covering the energetics of ecstasy, the ways (often unseen) in which obstructed ecstatic desire can manifest as physiological and psychospiritual knots, blockages, "symptoms," as well as specific magical and herbal allies to aid us in the liberation of ecstasy.

This class is taught by 2 trauma informed, self identified survivors of both personal and cultural trauma. We will be holding a gentle and inclusive space. There are no personal or partnered exercises as this will be a class to shift our understanding of the forces which flow through our lives, bodies and world but but not one in which you will be asked to do any in class exercises such as eye gazing, touch or other live/interactive activities.

There will be a guided journey into the heart similar to the one Sean led HERE.

Our intention and desire is that you leave the class with a playful curiosity about how ecstasy can and does move through your body, better tools to deepen your relationship to this energy as you feel is safest and most appropriate for you and the powerful ability to identify and name the cultural and personal fores which suppress our connection and relationship with it.

This class is designed to honor and empower survivors of personal and cultural trauma.

Pleasure is powerfully revolutionary. Join us in exploration and celebration of this powerful, healthy & life sustaining flow of ecstatic power.
